1991 volvo 740 engine bugs

So here's the thing I have a 1991 volvo 740 and yesterday. I started it up and opened the hood to check oil and stuff and noticed on the passenger side strut tower attached to the coolant tank a little black box closest to the fender had fallen off. I picked it up and the plug fell out and the car stopped running so I put it back together and go try to start the car but it wont crank and there's no idiot lights on the dash except an arrow pointing upwards. The radio doesn't work now but the fan still does.

I don't know the size of motor in the car but it has the regina system in it bout 290 kms on it.

Where should I go from here guys? I don't have a bloody clue.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

That sounds like the radio suppression relay. This relay was fitted to overcome radio interference from the injectors so is, in fact, a fuel injection relay. The good news on your car is you can use the radiator cooling fan relay to check if the radio suppression relay is the culprit as they are the same relay and they are usually mounted near each other. Switch the plug over and if the engine starts you need a new relay for one or the other circuit.
