'98 V70 Removing Rear Bumper Cover

I have to replace my rear bumper cover. Anybody know how to remove/replace same? Thanks.

1. Look under the bumper and pull the long bolt on each side, one may be under the tail pipe.

2. Go in the floor in the left side of the car and pull the 10 mm bolt under the floor panel. It holds a clip for the left side of the bumper near the wheel.
3. Go under the car and pull the same bolt on the right side, yes it's accessed from under the car.

4. Remove 3 rivits from each side, they connect the bumper skin to the rear finder wells.
5. Pull the bumper off.

Actually you're supposed to drill out the rivits first

I can't find the 10 MM bolts on the sides referred to in the text above. Does anybody have a Vadis diagram? Thanks.

I don't, however I'll try to explain it a little better.

On the drivers side, you have to remove the floor panels. On the left side you will see the car vent flaps that allow air to excape the car when the doors are closed. Just forward of that air flap vent you will see a 10 mm nut.

On the passenger side, while under the car, you will see the 10 mm nut just behind the wheel skirt. It goes through the body and into the bumper. Actually you will be removing a nut, there is a bracket that sits in the bumper and sticks a bolt through the body that a nut secures.

My wagon is away for the weekend and it is now dark out so I can't take pics of it but there is no other nuts around so they should be easy to find.

I had the floors out. I saw the pressure equalization flaps. I don't see any 10 MM nut near the flap. I see projections through from the outside and the ends of bolts held by metal clips, but no nut. I'll have to give it a second look, but right now, I'm not seeing the nuts. Same thing under the car. I'm seeing a clip, but no nut.

Maybe the newer cars have clips. I'll look in our S70 this morning.

Newer ones are from the inside, these Gen 1 cars are so easy I can't believe you can't find the bolts

I've done enough work on the car now to be very familiar with what a 10mm nut looks like. There is no 10mm nut anywhere near the pressure equalization flap on the interior below the rear floor on the driver's side. Instead there is simply a metal retaining clip -- in essences two hollow triangular pieces of metal into which the bolt screws from the outside. Can I just press the bolt out from the inside with a screw driver without damaging the bolt of the clip. Also, underneath the car on the passenger side is the same arrangement -- again, no 10 mm nut.

I am also curious as to how I'm going to extract the long 14mm bumper bolt above the exhaust without moving the exhaust pipe. I already had to use the "fire wrench" -- i.e. torch, on the passenger side to loosen that one.

Been under the floors and by the air pressure equalization vent flaps. There are no 10 mm nuts on my car associated with the rear bumper. They are simply not a part of the package on my car.
