Broken Bolt - Rear Suspension

Post by Jack_Inaboxx »

Hello everyone...

So I was just starting a rear suspension job on my 850 sedan by following these instructions (Thank you so much polskamafia btw):

https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=31410

And guess what? A bolt broke.

So what could I attempt before bringing it to a mechanic? Or is it such a PITA that I should just pay the mechanic to do it? Or... is it such a HUGE PITA that I shouldn't bring it there, otherwise it'll cost me several hours of labour just for one bolt?

Thanks,
-Jack

If you are referring to the Lower Shock Mounting Bolt this may help guide your decision on what to do?

No, it is one of the bolts of the shock mount bolts, like shown here:

That area is fairly accessible so you have room to work. Take a look at this video to see if it helps as he mentions several ways and some of the difficulties. Try some other videos from the link to see if it gives you enough info to decide whether you want to tackle it yourself.
