According to my VIN for my 2004 xc90 with the t6 engine it has the Aisin Warner AW50 transmission.
Could this be possible, according to this forum and others they say the AW50 transmission wasnt compatible with the T6 engine... we have 92000 miles, never flushed the fluid and it runs sweet (touch wood).
Our VIN is yv1cz91h741074179 , according to this docand others the first 7 is "7 = AW50AWD automatic gearbox"
Could this combination be possible, and we really dont have the dreaded GM transmission ???
Can my 04 x90 t6 really have the Aisin Warner AW50 tranny ?

I think so. Have you looked in your manual?Last year I came across a chart showing all the YEAR/MODEL/ENGINE/TRANS. I thought I stored it but that might have been on my last laptop/hard drive. It's here someplace!

Scandix is also incorrect with transmission on this car. It states the 5 speed is there.
My Vida copy only mentions the 4 speed GM tranny for this car.

Shame the T6 engine, and the AW50 transmission can't go together. Great engine, and great transmission.

The VIN character for trans is not reliable in that year range. When you use VIDA and select "GET VIN" it fills in details but does not populate the transmission field due to that character not being truly assigned as a transmission type.
A cell phone pic posted to this thread would answer this once and for all.
AW: selector cable mounts forward on transmission, cable attachment will be almost under the air cleaner box.
GM: selector cable is at rear of gearbox top almost back at forward edge of the master cylinder for brakes if you look down in there.
