Under the hood Valve spring and/or stem seal replacement

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Under the hood Valve spring and/or stem seal replacement

Post by boosted5cyl »

I suspect I've broken a valve spring on cyl #1. I'd rather not remove the head from the block to do it so im wondering if anyone has experience doing this with the motor in the car.

I have both manifolds off inclduing the turbos. Main thing I am looking for is a reccomendation for a valve spring compressor that will let me do this without removing the head.

OK well I think I found my answer.... http://www.tooltopia.com/schley-91400b. ... lebase_18u

Hopfully it is a broken spring and not a damaged/burnt valve. REALLY dont want to take the head off AGAIN!

Did it worked out? Were you able to remove the spring and retainer without removing the head?
