I have a problem. My 1999 V70 is overheating after about twenty minutes. I replaced the thermostat and checked the sensor. That fan does come on.
Any suggestions?

Do you have coolant in the motor/resivior? If so, you likely have a bad water pump. The perpeller may have come off the pump.

Water or correct mixture coolant in the reservoir? In warm conditions on an old radiator it can mean the difference between boiling and staying cool. By the way if fan is coming on at correct temp of 105degC this is already 5 degrees past boiling point.

I have a 50/50 mixture.
No weeping from the water pump and no leaks.
YOu can drive it around for about 20 minutes and then the temperature go up.
Checked the coolant temp sensor, it is fine.
Replaced thermostat ( i thougfht this was it)

Couldn't hear a thing. Just tried to overheat if driven normally. I drove the car home 20 miles without it overheating. No hard acceleration and kept it around 45 mph which seemed to be the best speed to keep the temperature under 230° F.loub wrote:In regards to your photo of the water pump with the impeller off; what did that sound like, rspi?
