S80 Volvo CD Player Problem
Our 2003 S80 has a weird CD Player problem. My wife complained that the CD player would not work. So I checked it out and found out that while the player accepted a CD, there was no CD option on the Audio Menu any longer. It used to be there, it went from AM to FM to TAPE and CD, but now the other options are still there and work fine, but there is no option for the CD Player. Any ideas?

I've had the same problem before with my 2004 S80. I have posted it on here but haven't had any response. The CD came back but now the TV option is not showing. I'm not sure what the cause is. The dealership wanted me to buy a new system. Let's call Volvo USA and complain about this 1-800-458-1552 . It may be a common issue with the vehicle that may be to be fixed. I'm calling tomorrow and will let you know what they say.

Thanks...I am on a business trip now. It almost seems like it needs to be reprogrammed or somthing like that. I am disappointed that a lot of folks did not report the same issue. Our CD player at least ejects the CD...it seems like it is normal. Let me know what you find. My email is [email protected]. Thanks for your help. George

I emailed Volvo last night after I got off here. They called this afternoon and left a voice-mail for me to call back. Unfortunately I was busy the whole day. I'm going to talk to them tomorrow most definitely.

I finally got to speak with Volvo customer care today. I was told that Volvo doesn't do repairs. They replace components on the vehicle only. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone arguing with them about why they don't do repairs and was told that was the manufacturers recommendation. So the problem could be a loosed wiring harness to a bad lens or anything. But they want you to replace the whole system. That may not solve the issue if the problem is something else causing the cd player not to display on the audio unit. I was also told that I'm the first customer reporting such a problem with the car. Call Volvo and let them know so they can investigate the issue. I'm sure there are other drivers out there that are not reporting it.
So End State: You'll have to buy a new Audio System according to Volvo USA.
