98 v70 cam seal r&r now no start
Performed the camseal replacement as perscribed from all of you. Thank You Was careful at replaceing everything to its proper location, especially the timing sensor plate, of course it only fits correctly one way. All hoses are connected to there orginal place , all electrical plugs as well. Cleaned pic-up in sensor. Engine acted as if it wanted to start on the first occasion but failed. I have gone back through as far as checking sensor installation it is correct. The car was running when the operation was schduled just leaking oil. I was going to perform the pvc flush once running. What have i overlooked
Pull the two wire connector apart that goes to the cam position sensor...I found the lower part of mine had corroded and retreated down into its housing, causing poor contact. I simply crushed the upper connector (about like crushing a soda cracker, it was so old and brittle0, ten pushed the pins up out of the lower, cleaned them, snapped each together with a tube of heat shrink over each, then zip tied the pair to a bracket.

We have had a few posters that had your same problem and it turns out that they had the cam position sensor trigger flipped 180 degrees. It will still bolt on even in the wrong position.

Flush the PCV? That system has parts that need to be changed.

^ That.
When I did it the first time I flipped it the wrong way. it wont fit perfectly, but if its your first time you may think its right.
Un bolt it, and spin it till it fits snug.
This will give the impression your car is trying to start but just wont turn over.

This is exactly when I wrote the DIY for REAR Cam Seals recently, I mentioned that it is a must to use "White-Out" paint (aka Liquid Paper or touchup paint):

Photo is here, note that the "half-moon" circle location, in your case, mark it with touch-up paint, flip it around and see what happens:

Why use white paint when those parts are already asymmetrical? Am I missing something? I just pay attention to how I install them.
On the black part under the CPS, the tab belongs at about 4:30. And install the CPS so that the wire is at 8 o'clock. Done, no extra marks, etc.

I installed the cam part as to the same position i removed it, it fits properly in the slots. For curiosity I reversed it after reading from help line and it does not fit properly the other way, its off center. The sensor wire is at 8.00 which is the same position as it was when removed. The triangular side of the cam pickup was large end to the 5 to 1 o clock position when removed when this is reversed it was 8 to 11. This is obvious to see and I know it was to the right and not left. I purposely laid it out the way it came out.
I don't want to seem hard headed but did not try it the other way (as to try to crank) as the way it fitted in the slots the way it came out had the best fit. Something else has to be my problem, I still don"t see anything that i didn't reconnect.
Where would you look next?????????
