Need to know if this is something I can do myself since the european repair shop wants $2500.
He says PCV system is totally clogged with sludge. He'll need to drop the oil pan and replace the pcv hoses and valves.
Then he says we'll check the one turbo that is loaded with oil. Says new turbo will run at least another grand.
I am pretty good at repairs and I do all of them on my landrover discovery. So I know how to drop the oil pan and clean out the sludge. But I need a diagram and instructions for working on and cleaning the PCV system.
Car runs great on highway and gets good mpg. SMOKES AT IDLE WHEN AT A STOPLIGHT FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS. After i take off from the stoplight smoking stops.
Are there any directions for this repair. 2004 XC90 ti 113000 miles.
Thanks. going crazy worrying about this.

If it's an inline-5, it'll be nearly identical to Justin's outstanding PCV tutorial. I can't don't know what ti means.

6 cylinder. ti means turbo- I believe. I have tagged that tutorial. It (5 cyl.) looks very similar to the six. Does anyone know if there are any differences I should look out for?
Thanks for responding Matt!

Oh, that's an "XC90 T6". "ti" is a BMW thing, maybe others. I changed your post title.
We don't have an T6 PCV writeup, but here's some odds and ends that are supplements:

Tommy, that would be really nice if you could.
I'll put up a solicitation for information on this inline-6 PCV procedure. If anyone chimes in, I'll post back here.
