Ok, so now that my a/c works, I am trying to find a thread on this problem:
Occasionally, while driving, my odom and speedodom gauges will just drop right to the position they would be in if the vehicle was off. Along with those, the gas and temp gauges drop out too.
If I am at a traffic light and my blinker is on, it will skip a click when this happens. The other day I tried to pull up to a windowed building to see if my headlights dimmed as well, and they did not.
It could happen during rain, shine, hot or not too hot outside. My first thought was maybe alternator? Husband thinks maybe loose / corroded wires/harness/adapters.
Engine itsself does not cut out, however, ALL of the lights on the dash come on including check engine, seat belt warning, oil light, abs, and anything in the bottom right hand corner of the gauge cluster. Also, the seat belt lights on the rear view mirror come on. This is by far the strangest thing I have seen a vehicle do.
Anyone have this problem, or if there is a thread already I cannot find it but if someone knows where it is I would greatly appreciate the link to it.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have a 99 v70 and the same thing happens to me the only difference is only my brake and abs lights come on, sometimes before the gauges drop and sometimes right after. still don't know what the problem is.

I am unaware if the lights come on before, during, or after the gauges drop as it all happens so fast I can not tell at all; seems as though it is all at once, but I could be wrong.

I did a DIY on mine and it is still working but would send it in next time.

Her 2003 is a completely different bird than the earlier cars, abs and all.
It sounds electrical to me.

It would seem electrical to me as well; just no rhyme or reason to it at all. Happens 3-4 times, then car goes back to normal, so I don't even know where to start. Also, my message area is sometimes scrambled; we are trying to find a new power supply to solder on the card, but cannot locate one. Could this also be the culprit making everything else go wonky for a minute?

90% of the time this is an issue with the ABS Module. I would recondition it or get it reconditioned and see what happens. If you never repaired the ABS Module before, this is a part that WILL fail at some point usually in the 130-170k range so I would try fixing this and see what happens.
Also, it is only $100 to get this reconditioned. If you ask me, this is better than spending a lot of money investigating an electrical issue.

Well it is definitely worth a shot since we can solder pretty well.
