Yeah, that'd help. Careful with that plug on the radiator, though - if it's an original Valeo OEM one that came with the car, the petcocks snap off easily with age.

I am about to start on taking down the inlet manifold. Would it be ok to drain the engine oil since change is due? Add oil and filter after it is all bolted back together?

Drained enough coolant that the expansion tank now looks empty.

I am having fun this fall morning.

No need to do either. Just read and follow the instructions.

The oil change is due. It is on ramp and accessible. Plus the new PCV will have a cleaner start.

Most people do change the oil after than do the job. I would do the job before I drained the oil.

Great write up brother...I especially like the pic of you standing in the engine bay. Doing this today to my wife's 850, it's doesn't need it bad but I figure at 100,000 miles it should be done. I swapped in the TBD from the 960 and the airbox thermostat mod. After the pcv system is done I'm changing out the oil for winter(Mobil1).

I did this yesterday not realizing I had the wrong oil seperator box...I ended up just plugging up the flame trap hose where it would have connected to the oil seperator box. Yeah I was fuukin' pissed off...epecially since most of my good tools are at work!!

A few words on PCV Job.

Things have changed over the last few years, many Volvo dealers now sell parts at very competitive prices (sometimes even cheaper than aftermarket vendors! Stick to Volvo OEM parts because aftermarket parts are junk, they will crack in 2 years.

As long as you do your diligent research, you should have the correct PNs for all the odds and ends.
