I don't have a pic, I sold it a few months back. I thought it looked swell without it on there, anything was better than it sticking out.

Both of mine was rotting / rusting out, the one on top and the lower one. The one on top came out and a jy one went in easy. The one on the bottom, well, finally come out and it looks fine without it. I'll post a pic tomorrow but I don't think you'll see much because my car is black.

It looks fine without it and I can't see how any water will get in the gate with the window seal. It may come out but my guess is that it will in many pieces if it's rusted. Now I have to find my touch-up paint and touch up all the scratches I made under the glass. The sad thing about it is that I have a good XC70 tailgate from a '99 or '00 model that I can install and have painted black to match the car but I don't have the $$$ to have it painted. It would also have the nice strip brake lights. I guess I'll get around to it sooner or later.

If your's is rusted, pull it out. Not sure how much a new one would cost.

Spent another hour on the project yesterday with the touch-up paint. It looked so bad with it in I would do it again.

I think it looks better w/o the goofy molding. I like the pic posted by EstVolvo above.
I probably will get rid of my molding soon.

Thanks for the photo mate! It looks ok without the molding, I am thinking now about taking my rusty one off too.

I was looking at the molding's section today, it is basically a U section and I thought perhaps you can install it by rotating it underneath glass, rather feeding it thru from the side, has anybody tried that?

That's how I put my top one on. The main reason I see for keeping the bottom one on is to make sure the wiper doesn't fall into the crack.

Very Good point. For longevity of the blade car makers do cover the glass to body gap with moldings, that is true. But I would way the risk here is very low, and the blades are a lot cheaper than this molding.
