I was trying to replace a front brake hose on a 1996 850 Turbo, and I rounded the nut on the metal line. I tried to use a Vise-Grip to remove it but I couldn't get it to turn. Is there anything special I need to know about removing the rubber line? I thought I could just put a 14mm wrench on the rubber line's nut and an 11mm wrench on the metal line's nut and wrench.
I tried to use a 7/16" flare nut wrench because I couldn't find anyone with an 11mm flare nut wrench. I guess I should have tried harder. Anyway, what to do now...
How to remove front brake hose if nut rounded? 96 850

Try some PB Blaster or ATF+Acetone and soak the area, let it sit. Gentle heat might help, careful if you used the Acetone method or use a high heat gun for heat. Using the vise grip get a grip on the rounded off part, tap the vise grip with a hammer, tap, not slam. Try to tighten it a bit then loosen. Be patient. BUT, you are just a tad screwed anyway. Got a Dremel? use the cutting disc and cut the metal line as close as possible to the rounded off part. You'll need a flaring tool and fitting to replace the rounded off fitting with a new one. Might be easier to replace the whole metal line associated with this brake. I sort of doubt you'll have enough room to use a flaring tool but you might. In theory, if you can get it disconnected with out damaging the fitting beyond use you can put it back into the new flex line. the new flex line should last long enough that you won't be doing this again anytime too soon.

If you have rounded the nut off, then no wrench will work. I would use a good prenatrating oil and let is soke for a few hours then with a vice grip with a good set of teath go at it. But to start the nut moving try a good bump on the plyers to get them moving. Once you got the old lines off, then maybe a little antiseze on the threads and metal flex hoses will work well.
