I'm in the middle of removing the transmission on my 03 S80 and everything was going somewhat okay until I reached the part where I have to remove the driver side (left side) drive shaft. I tried pulling the shaft at the CV joint and using a screwdriver to pry the shaft out, at the point where the driveshaft enters the transmission, but both methods failed to work.
All Data D.I.Y instructs the use of special tool 9995736 (which looks like a bent screwdriver tip) where I used the screwdriver. My question, is this special tool a must? If not, can someone please give explicit instructions (technique) on how to remove it without the special tool?
