intake (vaccum? ) hose help

I have been -slowly-replacing pretty much every single rubber hose and vaccum elbow on my 95 850 turbo. geez what did they make stuff out of? all of mine are crumbling.

So I have one--not bad considering how many I have done--that i can't figure out where it goes. Near the fuel injector rail to the far right side, there are two hoses, one right below the other. The upper hose is an intake---I can hear it sucking lots of air. (does it create vaccum for the whole system?) I have disconnected it and do not know what it re- connects to. I have checked haynes several times and several forums. Most of what I have found describes only one hose in this location.

To better describe it, it is to the left of the idle air control valve and the vaccum stack and is moldled into/sticking out of the intake manifold.

If no one can get this quickly, i'll snap a pic and post it.

never posted a pic. it's a bit large. the intake is to the left and below the yellow hose. I did look at the manual but cannot identify this intake. not clear if it goes to the egr or to the map?

Are all three of the rubber 90degree elbows on the vacuum tree occupied? How about the rusted looking spot in the foreground? If you put your finger over that while the engine is running, do you feel a suction? I would think something should go there. The vacuum hoses on my car are a bit different so I'll take a look to see if I can find something specific to your car. Are you having any sypmptoms at all of a vacuum leak at this point?

Here's a diagram of the vacuum hose routing on my car:

It appears that the missing (rusted nipple) goes to the purge valve at the front of the car....you'll see a plastic piece attached to it with a black side and a white side. Follow that (it's on the radiator fan housing- at the top) and see if there's a broken hose there or a hose that is disconnected. If still you can't find anything post back.

Been doing a little searching. The rusty nipple looks like it's missing a line to the EVAP system as I suspected above. I may be wrong, but that's the only thing I can find for that location. Here, check this out:

Look at section E in the diagram and look for the valve that the upper nipple should go to. I would think that there's a loose hose in there somewhere that came off...if you follow it, there's a valve on the end of it hooked up to another valve that then goes down under the car and to towards the gas tank. Hope this helps.

Sorry it took so long to get back.

I fixed the problem, and what a huge diff it made in the performance. I basically have that turbo head jerk feeling again that has been missing for quite some time now.

I printed that vacc diagram weeks ago when you first posted it (thanks for enlaging). I like to think of myself as literate and semi-educated but that thing is hard to interpret. The intersecton of lines totally throws me, the location of the valves and other items is theoretical rather than actual and I have a hard time knowing the diff between solenoids, valves, check valves, purge-valves etc.

Apparently, it was the evap hose, which i thought was the purge hose--it sits on the radiator. I routed a hose around the fan shroud as a drain (is that the meaning of purge?). I thought that there was a hose there when I removed the radiator doing just that.

So where did you get the second diagram of the evap system? I looked all over free download manual and didn't see that. Of course, it is a little difficult to navigate in so many pdf's.

Thanks for he help, the car is running great. new timing belt, plugs, ditibutor, rotor wire it should be. That hose was the missing link.

I did a "print screen" from Vadis. Something you're probably not going to readily find on line (diagram that is). Anyway, I'm glad you're running right again!
