pothole caused noise plz

Stuck 5 hours from home in sudbury ontario, hit major pothole and now my car is making a ticking or clicking/tapping depending on how you want to describe it. It started right after I hit it, it is persistant 3 ticks a sec at 60k at 100 it sounds like a machine gun rate... no noise when not moving and nothing looks broken or dangeling... would love some ideas

Hmmm...might have busted the wheel bearing with a sudden impact.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Please go ahead and post the audio and link it back. If it's a clicking while moving it's likely an axle.

sounds like its at the front passenger wheel when driving but the passenger hears it on the other side. it has stopped three or four times now after hitting a bump for 10-30 seconds at a time. as you speed up the noise gets faster too... plz help

also noise level is cut in half with a passenger it seems

Find an empty road. Get up to 40-50 MPH and swerve from side to side, hard, and see if the noise changes pitch or tone. If so, this will tell you that it's a wheel bearing.

If not, get the front end of the car up on jack stands and run it with the tires off the ground to see if you can duplicate the noise and see if anything is obviously rubbing against something. I kinda doubt it, but maybe the brake shield is bent?
