The spark plug wires are more important than you might think. After replacing mine, with new Bogecord (none other) quite a few little anomalies disappeared.
If you now have the VVIS vacuum reservoir buttoned up, along with all those other things, try letting second gear wind past 4100 RPM and see if you get pushed back into the seat up to around 5500.
The '93s are really not as bad as everyone thinks. They just need a little more attention to their specificities. Not unlike any other specific model, i.e. R model, LPT, AWD etc.

I went with Bosch, but thanks for the advice on the Bogecord. It is funny how a little change made such a huge difference. I'll make sure to push it a little now. They really are a fun car.
