Yes that was what I hoped would happen today but they didn't even open a door on it. Heartbreaking really. Had I known I would have done it myself. I may go drain it at sunup. 6:30am if I can find the 1/2" hose needed!
Thanks
Transmission problems....what have I done now?

What is the hose for? Grab a gallon milk jug, mark 4 quarts on it, and remove the 24mm drain plug. The stream will flow nicely into the top of the jug. It should drain about 4 quarts.

HOLD THE PHONE!!! Why do we think coolant or water is in the tranny? That has NOT been verified. These cars will stop cold in their tracks if one of the cv axles pop out. Check that first. I have pulled many of these dip sticks to find light brown fluid and have it way up on the stick. If you don't check it properly, the reading on the stick will NOT be correct.

The only thing verified is that there is no coolant in the ATF. The tranny shop said they drove it awhile & no codes , no problems. They had it 2 days and supposedly drove it in the heat if the day but it shifted perfectly. We pick it up & within 30 minutes of a couple of short trips. Not only did it again act like you were trying to drive in neutral but for the first time we got the arrow & check engine light. Code 7033. I got it home by pulling over & parking a minute and starting it & drive maybe 2-3 minutes at a time. That must be a red flag that a restart will trick it into driving properly . Cold starts in the morning it will go along time. The tranny tech, admittedly a non Volvo experienced one, was against a flush at this mileage of at least 150,000. I saw the stuff on the PNP switch & I don't know the next step of the Volvo secret handshake on this one. Oh and when I reset the p0733 code, it came back immediately. Is the proper flush a bad idea? (Rspi, thanks for the vid)
1.I don't mind starting the flush process tonight, I would feel better trying it. I am aware of the need to do it in 4 shifts. My question is....are there any strong reservations out there from first hand experience? The tranny show has no Volvo experience & they suggest high mileage vehicles not do it, but I am sure he was unfamiliar with the flush recommended here that is done in cycles of 4.
2.Could this have started, which it did, after I did the PCV replacement & took apart my throttle cable assembly. I didn't tear it all down but if something is wrong with how I reattached it, I have read something here that blamed transmission trouble on the throttle cable. I reattached it per the FCP PCV video. This started within a week of the PCV & Turbo procedures that I did so it's hard to believe it's not related somehow.

If the throttle cable looks taught and has no slack that's fine. Try a new TPS (throttle position sensor) as this (and other factors such as load) is telling the TCM which gear you're in.
You probably unplugged the TPS when you did the PCV. Try cleaning the contacts first.

This is good advice. From what you have posted so far, I really doubt the trans is bad. I would not be afraid of a 4-quart trans fluid change.precopster wrote:If the throttle cable looks taught and has no slack that's fine. Well today our 850 is looking up! I think the Supermoon may have help it, but I give you guys most of the credit...if it stays good! The code was 740 today and with the dreaded arrow, so I cleaned the contacts for the sensor & double checked my connections, most importantly, I think, is I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and BAM, I drove it 100 miles alone today & not a cross word was said. I think dummy here could have even NOT reconnected the battery last somehow...like I missed one of those connections on the throttle I don't remember, I was exhausted. But praying it lasts, my poor daughter is afraid to drive it & I reminded her that SHE wanted a VOLVO! (I wanted it for safety though & I am all in at this point.) We will keep it & paint it & feel secure that we have fixed it all and have my blood sweat & tissue into it.... Maybe find it a friend..... But it's worth it.......
On to finishing that Trans flush.
And THEN that bleeping headliner!
Thanks guys!
