I was inspecting my serpentine belt and tensioner, and I noticed that I could wobble the tensioner pulley back and forth by hand with the belt still attached. Is this normal? Also, I've been having this problem with a odd squeaking noise on a cold start for the first few minutes. Could this be related?
Thanks

Yep, replace the belt and the tensioner pulley.

'99s and 2000s have a different system with either a 14mm nut hiding under a removable plastic cap or a torx 60 hole on the tensioner. You need a torch to see it as it's quite a lot lower than the pre '99 setup.

If it is a Torx for later models, some people weld the Torx bit into an old lawn mower blade. Info here:

Cool, I checked; it's a 14mm on mine. I suppose a Snap On stubby torx would work if needed. A lot of the aftermarket tensioners use a T60. They have one with a 14mm hex for $50 at Advance Auto Parts with a lifetime warranty.

My heart sank when I saw that. My mechanic skills don't extend to welding. But you don't need anything like that. I replaced my serpentine belt and slackened the tensioner using a standard T60 torx bit on a half inch ratchet. It's a tight fit to get the bit in the hole, but its doable with some wiggling.cn90 wrote:If it is a Torx for later models, some people weld the Torx bit into an old lawn mower blade. Info here:

The hard part is threading the new belt around the pulleys and fighting the kinks in the belt from when it was in its packing. And you have to get the torx bit on the correct side of the belt so you can loosen the tensioner to get the new belt on - put the torx bit into its hole before you thread the belt.
Oh and absolutely do take a picture of the belt routing or make a sketch. I guarantee you will not be remember how it went if you don't!
