brakes pulsing and clicking

1998 V70 10 valve. ABS light came on and ABS sensor replaced - light out, all okay. EXCEPT still got pulsing on braking and sometimes a clicking sound as I came to a stop. Remembered hearing a slight oscillating feint sound when coasting ( from wheels ?) but thought it was nothing. Disconnected the ABS pump fuse, brakes fine, no pulsing, no ABS light, car drives well and stops well. Am worried that changing abs sensor initially was not the entire problem. Is it likely to be a worn rotor ? A weak spring? Any help much appreciated.

Pulsating response on brake pedal is normal.
It would feel extreme on the pedal when road surface is wet.

I would give all of your other sensors and axle reluctance rings a good cleaning - any gunk cleaner and a toothbrush will work.

I would suspect the reluctor rings on the axles. Mine does the same and my front left is rusted and missing 1 tooth, the right front is rusty with a cracked CV boot.

They are easy to inspect. Just remove the tire, turn the steering to see the back side of the knuckle and you should be able to see the ring on the outboard side of the outer CV joint.

Because I live in the rust belt, I will replace the axle assemblies rather than rebuild to save time and aggravation. NAPA said $75 for each assembly, your price may vary.
