V70 immobiliser replacement, RESOLVED, cleaning immob.

HI can anyone tell me ,is it possible to replace the immobiliser in my old 2000 v70 classic with a used one, and would I need the ignition key to go with the used replacement.

Lets start from the beginning...is the car just not starting because of the antenna ring at the ignition key?

If so, yes, it's possible to replace that with a used part, though usually, the contacts just need to be cleaned. The matching key would not be required.

Thank you for your prompt reply, it does start but now and then it won't, I then lock and unlock with the fob and its ok, starts first time , its not a problem but if I am out in the car with my young grand daughters I worry it might let me down.

Hi again, I have solved the problem with the intermittent fault with the immobiliser on my 2000 v70 classic,
I cleaned the connections and the key with a good electrical cleaner and it has behaved since.
