Turbo hose install, 1998 S70 GLT
Hi, I have a 1998 S70 GLT and I'm wondering why can I not push my largest black plastic air hose onto my turbo? Its a new hose, the item number changed from 9180764 to 9180200. Has any one else had difficulty sliding this plastic hose into place? The old hose came off fairly easy - this new hose seems impossible. Is there a trick that I need to know? Thanks

It should go on with relative ease. Just make sure it the open face of the hose is parallel to the inlet snout on the turbo when you go to push it on.

I'm thinking that I should return my new hose (part #9180200) and try to get my $90 back, and then purchase a used hose with the oringinal part number (#9180764) for around $30.
The hose appears parallel while attempting to instal.

A side by side comparison might be useful to see if there is a slight diameter change.
Removing my mass air flow sensor (MAF ) from the turbo hose the first time required a lot more force than I was expecting.

Visualy measured with my ruler and they are pretty close. However, I noticed that the bottom inlet on my old hose is loose and flimsy allowing the lip of the turbo spout to slide into the grove of the air hose with ease - while inlet on my new hose is stiff and rigid therefore the lip of the turbo spout is facing a great deal of resistance. I'm going to buy a grinding bit and attempt to remove a small amount of inner plastic from my new hose. I'm wondering if I should heat the inlet with my heating gun?

I removed a bit of inner plastic and the air intake tube now fits my tubo spout, however engine is still stalling. I read that my MAF should read 10+ ohms at pins 1 & 2. However my MAF is reading 2.3 ohms at pins 1 & 2 - I just ordered that MAF for $25 dollars last week. I think that it might be bad. Does anyone know the resistance specs for a 98 S70 GLT MAF?
Thanks

A 25 USD Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) is either used from a pick and pull or something other than a real MAF. It isnt something I have found to be diagnosable by a resistance measurement on either Volvo, VW, or BMW applications.
They cost more like 150 USD for a Bosch new one.

I have a 1998 Volvo GLT (LPT)
If you bought 1 for 25$ somethings up with that. I did however find that you can Purchase just "Sensor" not the whole unit for 65$ on Amazon.com

Ive seen the sensors standalone "new" for as low as 30 USD, but...
- the selling language is often grey ..."made with new materials" - what does that mean exactly?

What's so bad about buying a known good used MAF?
