fixed odometer on 850, now fuel and temp gauge don't work

Post by swedishmeatball88 »

Hi all,

I replaced the odometer gear on my volvo 850 and now my odometer, speedo, and turbo work and all the lights and the computer works fine, but my gas and temp gauge don't work. Did i damage the pins when I took the cluster apart and can this be fixed or are they dead to me.

With the temp gauge not working, does that gauge feed information to the car, and thus it'll overheat, or does the gauge just read from the car, and I can drive it.

Thanks.

You can still drive it. My car has the same issue. With the car on, try flicking the temp and fuel gauges with your finger and see if they perk up. I can usually get at least one of those two back up by flicking it. rspi struggled with a similar issue; here's the link to his post -> https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=48108

Yes, that was killing me for weeks. The wires on top of the cluster connection were broken inside the plastic insulation. So I had to splice another connector in the harness.

It is almost impossible to damage the wires inside the plug. Those are real good.
