Oil Leak

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Oil Leak

Post by MrMan2012 »

2001 Volvo S80 seems to be leaking from this hose behind engine area. Trying to solve myself and getting nowhere fast. Any ideas how to replace or stop leak from this?

This is coolant pipe (not oil).
Drain the cooling system (there is a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator - use 14mm socket)
Bay a 1236119 gasket. Here it is:

With some extensions and 10mm socket undo the 2 bolts. Place the new gasket (err, normally you should clean the both contacting surfaces but it will be hard job, so take your time and skip this step, hoping you'll be fine)

Ok, you've placed the new gasket. Tight the two 10mm bolts to 20nm and refill the cooling system.
Make a test run (300-500m) and check the coolant level. Top up if needed. Next few days take care of the level of the cooling system until you're sure it's out of any air in there.

Hopefully you're done. If not - you'll have to bay some more gaskets and remove some more stuff to be able to do the job in the proper way, but I believe it won't be needed.
GOOD LUCK
