Intermittent starting problems. Removed the battery, took it in and it checked out OK. Checked and cleaned connections. Have all dashboard lights, but no detectable clicking sound when the ignition is turned. Lights dim a little, making me think power is getting to the solenoid, but not to the starter. My inclination is to start with replacing the starter solenoid.
Any other ideas or suggestions?

1995 Volvo 850 GLT Starting Problems
One other item of note (see previous post on same topic). When the car does start, there is this lingering noise of something still spinning (from inside the car, it sounds like the fan blades tinging on something - but no, it's not the electric fan). From the engine bay, it sounds like it is coming from the back of the motor, down low. If the starter is not disengaging immediately, is this more likely to mean bad starter than bad solenoid (as in my previous post)?
Car has ~130k miles. Have owned it for just over two years.
Thanks,

Before replacing anything thoroughly clean the battery leads and connections, including where the earth (ground) lead is connected to the body, the starter/solenoid wiring and the engine/transmission earth strap.

You might want to pull the codes from port 2. I had a bugger of a time finding that port 6 was merged with port 2. Any how I had the same problem and it tured out to be the CMP. I bought it from eeuroparts.com. Once I replaced it I reset the code and it is been fine sisce
