1999 S70 T5 Dash rattle

I have done the L- Brackets on the side of the dash, those held up for about 7 months but since that plastic is so brittle, the dash rattle is back, and as bad as ever. It's impossible to drive this car without the radio up. It's a shame, the car is in great shape, just got new seats for the front, new tires, everything is great, just the damn rattle. I am intimidated to do the full job, I have seen many different rigs on here, does anyone have a favorite? This is my only car, and I imagine this fix would take many days, as I have work and such, so I just don't have time to do it. Are there any members in Austin that want to make some money? I read this one, and seems like it might work, just nervous about hitting that wiring harness...

Yea, I don't think I'm going to do the drive, too far, and done it one too many times. Any Austin takers? Or any recommendations, before doing the whole thing on a cheap fix.

Quick fix (works pretty well)
If the noises are on the side(s) this should quiet it down 95+%
If in the middle a little more work may be needed.

Buy a can of spray foam
Remove the lower dashes
Get a good light up there, attach the thin spray rod on the end of the can and start spraying foam up in the corners of the dash and a bit towards the middle
You may want to shoot some first in some scrap angle metal to see how much it expands as to not overspray and use too much.

I used this years ago on a car that the left dash bracket was obviously cracked and to my amazement it really worked!

Did you try that on a Volvo 70's series?

You may be better off finding some real tiny people like in the movie Gulliver's Trail, or whatever the movie is. Some of them were really skilled in harpooning. They may have the equipment to shoot something through the mounting screw holes and getting some kind of anchoring in the back side of the dash to pull it tight against the fire wall.

The problem with the backside of the dash & mounts is that the duct system is part of the mounting points. When the mounts break it also tears the duct work apart. After pulling the dash out, I seen no other way to cure the problem short of pulling the dash out.

But if it spreads too much, it is likely to push the dash even farther apart from the firewall? No? Isn't the idea supposed to be pulling the dash as close to the firewall as possible?
