1994 850 Turbo Did Brake Fluid Flush, Now ABS Light On

Post by TurboMami13 »

I just had a brake fluid flush done at Merchant's (who also broke my hood latch for the second time). Now the ABS light is on. Is that normal to trip the light just from doing a flush and perhaps I only need to clear the code? Or should I assume they didn't do something right and I need to take it back to them? What are some of the reasons that the light came on from doing a fairly simple fluid flush? I just don't want them to claim that it was a pre-existing problem like they tried to claim with my hoodlatch...Thanks

Take it back. Chances are, they have air in the system.

Well, I called Merchant's and they said "air in the line has nothing to do with the ABS system. If it had air in the line then the brake light would be on. something else is causing the ABS light to be on." Are they giving me a line of bull? I just want to be informed enough to argue with them. Thanks

Most likely they disturbed the wiring to one of the wheel sensors. Ever had the ABS come on before? Sounds like Merchant's isn't a really good place for getting your Volvo cared for. Is this like Pep-Boys in the NE? Tires and maybe an oil change is about all I'd let them do, and even that, not on my Volvo.
