2006 XC90 Reading codes from the dash display?

2006 XC90 Reading codes from the dash display?

Is it possible to read codes from the dash display.
I'm under the impression if you hold the reset button on the turn signal and hit the fog light switch 2 times the stored codes will appear in the dash display?
I have my xc apart now so I can't check above.
Is this possible? Or is there another procedure without a scan tool?
