2013 S60 T5 Long starting crank

Post by fields 100 »

Hi,
I have had this issue for a while. It would take about 4-5 sec. for the car to start. In the beginning, it would do it only after long overnight stay, but lately it does it after 2-3 hours. After start up, the car
performs flawlessly at any range of RPM. So, I checked the fuel pressure which was perfect at 60 PSI,
however there was no residual pressure present. I might be wrong, but think, that the pressure should
remain after shut down for at least 15-20 min while gradually dissipating. In my case, the needle dropped down straight away.Would that be a reason of long crank and what part of the fuel system has to be replaced? there are no CEL codes present.
Thanks.

Your car is under warranty. Fling this at a dealer.

Yes, it should hold pressure, at least 200 kPa @ Volvo specification, for 20 minutes.
all the items that can cause this are part of the tank sending unit on that car.

Hi there

Did you ever find the problem? My 2009 XC60 has the same issue. Posted this in the forum sometime ago. In a very cold night I have to crank at least three times before it starts.

Thank you
