replaced knock sensors, won't run

Post by butchwill »

I replaced knock sensors, cleaned Throttle Body and Idle Air Control. Now it cranks, starts and dies, if I give it gas it revs, pops and dies when I let up on the accelerator. Did I forget something?

Did you swap idle air control valve and throttle position sensor connectors?

Intercooler hose is loose is my bet. Unmetered air running into the manifold and messing up mixture.

Yes, I pulled the manifold and used a new gasket. It is supposed to get up to 40 degrees on Saturday so I may wait until then to work on it again. Keep the ideas coming! I will take it all apart, except the manifold, and start over.

If the car is turbo, there is a chance that you got the corner bracket stuck behind the throttle body corner of the of the intake manifold.

Solved, I think. RSPI wins the prize. The bracket that holds the hose from the turbo to the PCV oil separator was between the manifold and the gasket instead of between the bolt head and the manifold. However yesterday when I read the codes again, I left the key on in the ignition and now will have to wait for the battery to charge in order to test. This simple project has been strung out for 12 days, but I'm not quitting until we solve it?
