2002 2.4t Oil Leak

My 2002 2.4t has a oil leak from somewhere above on the oil filter side of engine. Any Ideas where it myight be coming from? It dose not appear to be a valve cover gasket and it there is a decent amount of oil on the ground. The car has never had any leaks before and its right at a 150 thousand miles.

That location could be your front camshaft seals or maybe your front crankshaft seal.
Remove your timing belt cover and see if there is evidence of oil flying about.
It would also run down towards your oil pan and oil filter area from there.
May be caused by the PCV system if it is in need of servicing as the crankcase pressure builds up if it is clogged and blows the engine seals.

indeed check pcv system, clogged it builds up pressure inside the crankcase and sludge in the oil pan that eats up the rod bearings
