Post by alonsoBG »

Hi got back from hols ,left car outside house re took a flight ,on return my s60 batt dead or what !
Guy next door says the car alarm went off a few times with various lights flashing , the battery was so flat nothing at all showed any sign of life,so charged it most of day (still not good) but tried to put life into it to get out to get a batt for said car,
now on 1/2 charge ish the alarm starts to sound, and have no dash info @ all Tacho lights etc ,windows won't up/down,no Heater,no Central Locking,no Stick controls i.e. change radio vol/channels etc
Pretty much dead in Dash area , I've had all the fuses i can see out and tested nothing wrong ?
would i have a relay/module/ DIM unit problem or is that me just Dim ha !
Neen it for work on Monday HHHEEELLLPPP (calm now if anyone could throw some light on this prob i would be a bit happier than i am @ the moment

Considering what happened to the car while you were away, I would fully change the battery first. Then disarm the alarm by using your key and remote. Then start the car if you could. If you still not able to start the car, your car could be disabled by the security system. Google around for the process to reset everything. First would be the steps to disconnect the battery properly. Then reconnecting it and see if the car computer will reset itself.

This. All kinds of weird things happen when electronics get a marginal supply voltage.

Have someone give you a lift to the nearest auto parts retailer and get a battery, then go from there.

+ 1 on removal or at least charge it with one lead removed.

Garages always remove a battery to charge it; I remember something about the alternator diodes not liking another power source.

When you reconnect it place ignition in Pos II . This ensures the modules initialize properly. Then operate the door locks 3 times.

You may have an alarm module issue where the alarm battery has corroded onto the circuit board. It's tucked up in the passenger fender behind the wheel liner. There's a write up on this forum on how to repair it and which battery does the job. It may be under S80.
