'98 V70 XC - Two problems,

Ok, here is where I am. I found my FPR. Note that it's covered in old oil from the multiple oil leaks over my car's life, lol. Thankfully it's relatively easy to get to (it'll involve some laying down in the motor bay to get to it, but whatever). But I noticed that it's wet with something, as I indicated with the arrow. I'm real certain it's not gasoline because it doesn't smell like gasoline. Looked like oil, but that may just be because whatever liquid is mixing with the old oil covering everything. Maybe water? I imagine that would be an issue.

Anybody got any input on the moisture? I'll try to pick up the fuel pressure gauge from Harbor Freight tomorrow and see what I find out about the pressure.

Yep, they're tricky to find on 98's. Pull off the vacuum line - it should not be wet on the inside or smell like fuel.

I wonder if, since all my other vacuum lines were ballsed up, if that one is wrong too. That would explain a lot.

Also I'm eyeballing the MAF too. I might try unplugging the MAF if my my fuel pressure is good.

So uh, looking at IPD's website, none of their FPRs for my model car look like the picture I've posted. So either someone really screwed up somewhere or I'm not actually looking at the FPR.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm a knob. I did not realize the FPR fits down into something else. Whoops.

98 was a split year, and this was one of the things that changed from earlier models.

No, it's the other one. I'm a knob and didn't realize that the FPR fits down into something called the fuel pipe (good luck finding that part, btw).

Think I've figured it out. I pressed tried putting a fuel pressure gauge to the Shrader valve, and it didn't read anything. I think I actually broke the gauge trying to get it in there around the throttle cable thingy, but whatever. So then I pressed on the Shrader valve with a flathead screwdriver and nothing came out.

So... bad fuel pressure regulator?

was the key in the all the way on position? try to crank it over and then take the pressure. if you broke youre gauge you can use an old tire gauge,the only reason to use an old one is cause the gas will destroy it..
