2000 S70 Upper Motor Mount Bushing

Post by kakboy »

The upper motor mount bushing needed replacing so I ordered one from the local Volvo dealer (part# 9434263). I was expecting it to be quite a job because everything I've read online says it is a VERY tight fit to get the bushing into the mount. The bushing I received fits in the mount VERY easily (if I suspend it with my hand I can get it to where it doesn't make contact with the mount). Everywhere I've looked online points to this being the right part, but I don't feel like it should be so loose. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there some kind of sleeve that goes along with it? Any advice would be great.

Thanks, Ken

Can you attach picture? I will be doping the same job soon.
If it does not make contact with the mount it will not perform properly.

Here are some photos. You can see how easy it is to move from side to side. I can also move it up and down a little. Do you think is correct? If not what did I do wrong?

It should fit fairly snuggly (mine ipd blue) to being pressed in!

Here a few photos to compare it with.

Side to side, up and down is OK. Thought you meant it the entire bushing was loose in the bracket.

The bushing is loose. It is hard to tell from the pictures but there is space between the bushing and bracket.
I took a video of it and put it on YouTube:

I have never understood why people spend hours pressing, fitting and struggling with replacing just the bushing. You can replace the entire aluminum mount assembly for about $20 and it takes 15 minutes.
2011 XC70 T6 - current
2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q2 - Totaled in 2022. Not my fault.
2011 XC60 - sold
2000 V70XC - given to a friend, wish I still had it.

After watching your video I would say it is not going to work. You will be hearing metal on metal and this mount will not absorb any shock

That aluminum mount is only on the 2000 right?
