Dice reads but not sure it changes settings

Post by robrike »

Hi,
I have till tommorrow at 6pm to open a dispute with ali express regarding my Dice unit. I am using Windows 7 32 bit and 2013A Vida and it reads the vehicle, will read settings and temps for oils and all that stuff but things like changing DRL's don't take. I hit the vct2000 symbol, select option for lights off in "0" position and hit "start programming" and they stay on. How long does it take to change? I have tried engine running and engine off it II position. The status changes on the display but the lights are still on. I tried changing auto lock of fuel door after locking car from 10 minutes to 0 minutes and checked it right after locking and it opened right up. I would not think it could read all of this but not communicate, seems like an all or nothing deal. Could I have a bum DICE? I did the Vida tutorial and understand it a little better but expected it to do a little more.
Any thoughts? Seat heater changes did work. Very confused.
Thanks as always.
Rob

Often when settings are changed on the same key cycle VIDA ( or the car) fails to register the changes. You can also miss the occasional "Forced write" step that registers the settings change. I think the VIDA-DiCE system is working if you have successfully changed seat temps and the other things. The lights may not go off if DRL feature is active.

What is model year?
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

It is a 2005 model. What is the "forced write" procedure? I am unfamiliar with that. I thought you just clicked the vct2000, changed the setting and hit "start" to write it. When you say key cycle do you mean it will not register even though programmed until the car is restarted?
Thanks for the suggestions.

2005 year explains a lot. It has more strict rules than -2004 and 2006+.
All these settings can be changed only by software upload.

Hmm. Ok. That stinks! Well, at least I can read and clear codes and change little things I suppose. Plus see trans temp when checking and changing fluid so that is worth the cost I suppose. I was just hoping to have more control over features but hey, I can change the seat heater temps. Thanks for the info. I wonder why they went so strict in 05?????
