well I did a compression test and number 4 come up with a grand total of 0psi. So I drove it to my friends auto shop and he took the head off and there is a chip missing from the exhaust valve. So that is going to be replaced. Will have to see what the guy he has do head for him says.

The valves usually burn because of leaky valve stem seals. If you are going to put the head back on, I'd replace those seals. Would be a shame to burn another one in the next 5k miles.

I have same 1996 850 R and get P0300 and P 1310 codes after high revs under load. Car runs fine most the time at high revs but occasionally cuts out when I really step on it. But as I say, it runs very well most of the time. 180K miles. I suspect the possibility of faulty injectors, as the electrics are all up to date.
Of course I could have a sticky/burnt valve, but I don't want to think about that right now. Seafoam where are you?

So what does that mean, anyway?rspi wrote:LOL, go ahead and waste money while you torture yourself.
If this description is accurate, no way is there a burnt valve. A burnt valve has a hole in it all the time, not just under high revs. Codes also don't suggest burnt valve as they are both for multiple misfires, not for a single cylinder.guidowitz wrote:I have same 1996 850 R and get P0300 and P 1310 codes after high revs under load. This one sounds more like a boost leak, but yes there are many possibilities.
