240 Turn Signsl and Hood Problem Topic is solved

I have a 1987 240 wagon. The left turn signal does not work. I tested the bulb by switching the right and left turn signal bulbs - the bulb is not the problem. What should I check next? Also, I can't get the hood open. Nothing happens when I pull the hood release. Is the cable difficult to replace and how do I open the hood if the cable is inoperative.

You didn't say if it was front or rear. The left and right lamps are operated by seperated fuses, but those fuses control other things (tail lights, instrument panel lights and others), so you would notice those things. Probably the socket for the bulb. Check a junk yard for a replacement.

The sockets and the printed circuit board in the tail light housings tend to give troubles. Make sure the contacts for the sockets are making contact with the circuit board.

The hood opening problem. The grill is fastened by 2 plastic pins at the upper side, one inch from the corners. I can not see any other solution than cutting those pins and take the grill out. You can see the pins in the slot between the hood and grill. Protect the paint of the hood by some thin plate and cut the pins with a saw blade. Maybe you can increase the slot by using some wooden wedge. If you feel some metallic when you are cutting, it is just a spring around the plastic pin. Up in the center you will find the locking mechanism for the hood.
