1997 850 T5 radio code?

Post by ecy »

The car I'm working on has a radio and when I press the power button it says "off" on the screen. The battery has been disconnected several times. The seller said the code is written on top of the radio case, but I haven't found an instruction for entering it. I've tried entering the code using the number buttons, but no luck. If there's a procedure, I'd like to know. Any ideas?

Thanks!

You need to keep the car on for two hours. The code has been misentered too many times. It locks it out. Once it has been two hours (uninterrupted I beleive) it will say CODE and you put in the 4 digits and it will turn on.

If you need the code call a dealer with your vin and they can provide it

Call Darcars Rockville Volvo (USA), they don't ask any questions: +1 (866) 691-0845

They will need your VIN# or the radio serial number; and they will give you the CORRECT radio code.

The code is as simple as entering it with the preferred radio station buttons. If you need a 2nd chance, then just remove the radio and unplug the power connector. That should give you a 2nd 3rd, 4th, infinity th chance immediately.

Key needs to be in position "2" for two hours then the unlock code can be re-entered. Check your owners manual folder (if it is still around). Hopefully the plastic card will still be in there with the unlock code written on it.
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

Thanks! I clicked the link and received the code (yes, it was written on top of the radio case) and am now leaving it on for 2 hrs. with a charger connected to make it possible to enter the code. It's all in knowing how! This forum is a great source!!
