Match the inner diameter of a broken hose to that at an auto parts store. Most you'll find on the Volvo are 4,6, or 8 mm (fat ones).

That one at the fuel rail you took a picture of is actually a vacuum line as well.

I fixed those lines today, changed the oil and reset the check engine light code. I drove the car for about two hours around town after that and I was really getting on it too. I got her to a 100mph at one point, the check engine light never came back on and it ran like it wanted to go that fast, I love this thing. I did however pull off the oil cap after that while it was running and got a tiny bit of white smoke from the engine...so I guess the PVC system is getting replaced too, I need to go easy on her until I get the struts, axles and tires replaced but I couldn't resist today, lol. Thanks again everyone for all your help. I found the headlights that were out, they were two identical ones, and the abs box is my next fix, hopefully I'll be able to help out people one day too.

Enjoy! There are a lot of little things that go wrong or can go wrong with these cars but there is a lot of support and you can fix most of it yourself with basic skills.
The driving experience is worth it

Great! I'll agree entirely with the comment above mine - these are great cars and this is a great site to learn to work on it yourself. Sounds like you're already on your way to becoming a MVS regular.

I just hope I never suffer a catastrophic failure: I hear a lot about burnt valves, and fluids mixing in the rad

Do the glove test before you worry about a bit if white smoke in the crankcase, snap a work glove over the oil fill port and see if it inflates when you idle fast....1500-2000 rpm

Ideally you want it to stay limp. The glove.
