1997 V70 Won't even turn over.

Post by 5rivers »

My car was running sort of fine - some slight hesitation as of late - then after a short drive of a few miles, I parked the car. A few minutes later, I needed to move it out of the driveway and it would not start; not even a click. I did notice the oil light on the dash stayed on after I turned off the car. I recently changed the oil and oil filter. Any ideas what this could be? Starter cables; dead battery; oil pressure switch? Will charge the battery in the morning and see if the car starts. Appreciate any suggestions.

Batteries the first place to start for sure. Check fuses, relays and cables.

If you have things staying on that shouldn't be,
you may want to start with the ignition switch.

Lights on at funny times is often bad grounds. These cars are known for developing bad braid wires grounding battery and engine to chassis. Somewhere there are posts depicting all the grounds in the engine compartment - there are a lot of them!

I live (weekends) about 5 minutes from a 5 rivers in upstate NY...PM me your location (button on right) in case we are neighbors!

The oil pressure light on this car is stone simple.
There has to be voltage present for that lamp to light.
And it also sounds like parasitic draw has been an issue.
I'm puttin' my money on the ignition or an overload relay.
