1998 T5 - Too much Coolant Pressure

1998 T5 - Too much Coolant Pressure

Is there such thing as too much coolant pressure. I have a very slow leak from my Coolant Expansion Tank (reservoir), I replaced the rubber line but I see coolant coming out of the rubber hose (the one connected to the tank) ever so slowly. I see that the nipple has a steel insert so I'm not sure how this is possible.

Should I buy a new coolant tank or is there somehow too much pressure due to something else at Fault. THe coolant has been changed and is nice and clean.

Sure it isn't just a hose clamp issue? Have you checked, re-torqued the hose clamp?

Yes I've tightened it down and also tried a different clamp.

Also to add: Thermostat and ECT was changed a couple months ago. All cylinders have good compression, I don't see any fluid coming out of Rad cap, just the nipple on the reservoir.

Does the cap normally vent to reduce pressure and maybe this cap isn't working right? It is a Green Cap

Cap should vent to reduce pressure. The caps do go bad and/or there was a bad bunch of caps out there a while ago. I'd try replacing the cap and see if things improve.

Yes,

My 1998 GLT reservoir cracked at 140K miles.
Use only Volvo reservoir.
2004 V70 2.5T 100K+
2005 XC90 2.5T 110K+

I have had to replace a '99 reservoir as well at about 150K miles.
