There is a discussion on similar issue where jblackburn points to a leak at the gasket over intake manifold, caused by the loose bolt creating vacuum.
This bolt is located close to the rear intake cam. It suggests to re-torque the bolts.

It should sound like a click when ignition is turned on then a whine then another click at around 6 secs then the sound ceases. Normal operation.loball86 wrote:So is the sound coming from the etm a good thing then?

ok so i just replaced the intake manifold gasket it was worn and super thin and i replaced a bolt that was missing in the intake manifold while i was re assembling i noticed one of the wires to the sensor thing in the timing belt area the silver housing (isnt that the water pump) was almost completely severed looks like it hit the timing belt would that cause the effect im having?

I think that sensor is the temperature sender. If the ECU isn't getting an input from it, it probably won't run right because it won't know the temperature of the engine.
