Hey everybody,
OK, so just recently the S70 has started to randomly emit a single "click" sound from the engine bay followed immediately by a small (200-300 rpm) surge. One does not seem to happen without the other. I have quite recently replaced the ETM with a Xemodex unit and I have also replaced the MAF, ignition coils and Evap purge valve. In the 10,000 mile I have driven this car I have changed oil every 3500 to 4000 miles. Weird. Thoughts please!

When the AC compressor comes on it clicks and is often followed by a surge in RPMs,

Hmm. I will check this out tomorrow. Thanks Polska. The strange thing is that it happens regularly as I drive along. Why would the AC keep turning on?

If that's the case then you can turn the AC off. On the climate control panel flip the AC switch to off. It is right next to the REC switch.

I cut up a cheap rubber mouse pad and shoved it in some of the corners - helped immensely with the squeaks and rattles.

This will be my Memorial Day project. I will check the firewall mounts and then try your mousepad fix. Man, it has gotten really bad. The plastic strip right below the windshield is cracked in three places as well. Thank God these cars came with a loud stereo! Well, I will report my findings in any of the fine "My dash is squeaky as hell" threads here at MVS.
