Can i use Dexron IV oil in my automatic transmission?

In my instruction book it stand that i need to use Dexron IIE. But Dexron IIE is out of sale. Not comming back beacuse it's to old.

Car: Volvo V70XC AWD automatic

I don't think so.
Everyone uses Dexron 3 (or Mobil 1 etc).

Dex/Merc is suitable for domestic and imported passenger cars, vans and light trucks where Dexron II, Dexron II-E, Dexron III-G, Dexron III, H Revision, Automatic Transmission Fluid, or Ford Mercon fluids are specified.

What is your issue with insisting on Dex 4?
Dex 3 is cheap crap, can be bought for 3 bucks a bottle (or less) just buy a case and be done with it.

No. Dex 3 is not cheap. Not there i live. 8 dollar per liter.

Isnt Dex VI BACKKWARDS compatible with the previously manuf' Dex types? Read it somewhere but cant find the article now.
A transmission specifically designed for Dex VI or newer cannot however be filled with an older type Dex product.

There is no Dex IV at all.

I've researched this and found there is no Dexron IV indeed.
