Wire harness plug pin removal
hi guys, could someone show/tell how to remove the electrical pins in a wire harness plug? I need to relocate some pins to get a 96 door lock actuator to work in a 94 850. when I removed the actuator from the car at the boneyard I also took the car side off the connector to learn how to do this task.

I deal with a ton of different style connectors from AMP, Amphenol, Molex, etc so I have a variety of tools in my tool box. I think that I have used the AMP tools to release the pins.

Google "Amp pin extraction tool" for a variety tools. If you buy something through Amazon be sure to use the link at the top of the page so that Matt picks up a few pennies.

figured it out. there is one prong on these connectors that must be compressed. the pin then comes out the harness side of the connector.

That is basically what the extraction tool does. The only real difference is that with the tool you don't need to know what side of the hole the retainer tab is on. You just shove it in the hole and remove the pin but your method with a small screwdriver is just as good. Be careful when removing the pins you plan to reuse, the retainer tabs can easily break.
