I am having a problem with brake squeal. It sounds rather high pitched, almost metal on metal. It all started when I took my car to a tire shop to get my winter tires put on. I finally got around to changing the pads and .... They didn't need changed! Rotors looked fine as far as wear, but just by feel I think there was some definite rotor warping.
I failed to mention thus far that we actually broke many items taking my tires off. Presumably, the company that put them on tightened the crap out of them. First, we tried a air-powered torque wrench and actually broke the socket. Next, we tried a snap-on 24" breaker bar. I was standing on it and the bar actually bent and the lugs didn't budge. All of the lugs were like this. We ended up placing a 4 foot cheater onto the breaker bar. We bent the breaker bar a bit more and finally, with myself standing on it, I was unable to break it loose. My grandpa and I were able to (with full weight mind you) stand on the cheater and break the nut loose. This had to be repeated for all of the lugs. We calculated, 1500ft lbs of torque were applied when the lugs were put on! Thats being generous in their favor.
As far as damage goes, I am thinking its possible I have warped rotors.
Brakes - They still have quite some life on them, probably 5/8+ of an inch left of pad.
Calipers - Could these be warped?
Trying to figure out the real reason of all of this noise. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.
