Bought this car recently, did the timing belt, serpentine belt, air pump (still throwing code)
Moved the car in the driveway to turn it around so I could jack it up to repair the exhaust leak.
Jacked the car up, put it on jack stands, tried to start it. No start.
Has not started since. This was two weeks ago. I really need to get this car running.
The only code it is throwing is for the secondary air system.
Pulled plugs, all have spark. Installed new ones.
Checked compression - about 200 psi in all cylinders.
I hear the fuel pump - have about 40 psi at the rail
I pulled the injectors out, they all are spraying.
Initially smelled fuel in the cylinders, now I do not.
Have tried the oil in the cylinders, no luck there.
Have tried holding the pedal to the floor, no luck there.
Tach needle is not moving when cranking.
At my wits end here........

Did you disconnect the MAF and crank and see what happens?
No, did the basic tests first. Would the MAF cause a no start? The part that has me baffled is fuel when the injectors are spraying in the air, but no smell of fuel and dry plugs when cranking. The oil in the cylinders gave me a quick sputter, but nothing else.

My understanding is a bad MAF will cause a no start. To test disconnect the MAF and see if it starts- if it does it's very likely the MAF is bad. Check with Ohmmeter to verify.

Starter fluid (ether) might confirm a no-fuel situation.
40 psi sounds weak for fuel pressure at rail, can someone confirm spec for a 1996

Finally got back to the 850. Will not start with ether. Disconnecting the MAF made no difference. I don't get it, with the plugs removed I can see spark, so it should fire with ether.
