upper engine mount
upper engine mount
I have a 1995 850 GLT that needs a new upper engine mount. I'm told that an aftermarket POLY bushing will last much longer than the OEM part. I'm looking for a source for the POLY bushing.

You can find them at ipd, link's on my Main page.
I've heard they last longer but transmit more vibrations to the cabin. Keep in mind that's someone's opnion that I'm repeating -- I've not replaced mine yet. If you call ipd you might want to ask the rep if he's heard similar reports.
If you find anything out or replace with a poly., repost back here your experiences
Thanks!

Thank you for the referal to IPD. I have installed the new poly bushing - no problem. The part came with an instruction sheet that was very helpful. The factory bushing is pressed in place and has to be removed through the innovative use of a hacksaw. The new bushing works perfectly and should last a long time.

No problem with any vibration. I highly recommend the poly bushing. My mechanic quoted me $150 to install his poly bushing. I bought one on-line from IPD for $31 (including shipping) and it took hand tools and 20 minutes to install.

Mike,
Thanks for posting the conclusion. In a grand sense, it shows that if one is even reasonably familiar with cars, you can save a bundle of dough with our 850s, and Volvos in general, by doing the little-medium stuff your own self.
If it were not this way, I would not be able to afford my Volvo.
