It will arrive today via DHL. They sent it 2 day express! Will post back once I get it set up and run some tests.

A good thing about the VIDA software is that it should include diagrams of the car, so I should be all set with the software once I get it up and running.

I recently had goods sitting in China for 3 weeks waiting for a clearance that wouldn't occur. Problems stemmed from contraband goods being sent to Russian Federation through the regular postal service.

DHL and UPS have both found ways around this.
Which is probably why they switched the shipping method around and sent it DHL. But 2 days from China is a freaking miracle, something I've never experienced personally.

If you get real jammed up check with Dalzell Brothers in Foxboro, not Dalzell Volvo in Boston. They are really good with diagnostics and reasonable with repair. There was another maybe car emporium in warwick. Don't know if they are still heavy Volvo anymore though.

OK, got the VIDA/Dice knockoff in 2 days! I installed it on a fresh Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit laptop last night. It took a bit to get it installed (just a matter of waiting through what I originally though was the installer freezing, but then realized I just needed to give it enough time to install everything).

The Dice unit was recognized right away and its drivers were installed.

I was able to read my car's profile and set that up.

After I got the profile set up, I was able to play a little and perform a diagnostic test. It showed all of the modules that I had online, except for the DIM of course. That was the only one appearing in RED.

There were some stored codes (SAS, etc) but I didn't clear them yet. It was getting late and I wanted to go to bed and work on it more today.

A strange thing happened though, I tried the software download part of the program and it appeared like I was able to "order" the DIM reset package and it looked like it was going to go through the programming process with downloading the file needed for the DIM, but then displayed an error explaining to contact my Vida Admin.

But, after that, I was unable to start my car. The only light that was on was the CEL and nothing worked inside the car such as the radio, etc. I think VIDA told the car to be ready to be programmed and then the error through it into a state of in-between. I fixed it by disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes, to reboot the entire system. When I reconnected the battery I was then able to start the car again and breath a sigh of relief. I'm sure my girlfriend would not like the fact that she couldn't take the car then next day. She loves that S60 T5 more than me, I think... ;)

So I then shut down for the night and am planning on some more diagnostics tonight.

SUMMARY:
  • * VIDA/Dice 2013D installed nicely on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
    * The only thing that was RED was the DIM. So I'm wondering if it could be the DIM harness that has a short.
    * After the last heavy rain we had, I had some water on the passenger-side floor in front. Are there any things under the dash on that side of the car that would be affected by water?

After entering the Diagnostics tab then go to Network. Click on the module of choice and you can see a set of software and hardware numbers for each module.

If you can't see them on the DIMM it's probably fried unless it has no power or ground problems. Also in Activations you'll be able to perform some simple tests of each module.

Once you locate another DIMM contact user doublebug. He has some cleverly written software that can extract and clone most Volvo modules through the internet. It's actually BETTER in some ways than a Vida subscription because you simply pay for each use of his time rather than buying Vida online time and paying for each sw download.

Check these guys out - xemodex.ca . I sent them my dead DIM and they repaired it and sent it back in the same day. They offer a lifetime warranty on their repairs.

Hi

Can you find someone else with a similar model as yours, another 2003 S60, .AND. willing to let you switch DIMs for 5 minutes? (even a used car dealer / junk yard ????)
The whole operation would take less than 10 minutes.
You would probably be able to see if your 2 DIM are OK or not.

I am told S60 and S80 some other models are interchangeable (given few digits on the whatever number match)

PS

Could you please, please either post the name of the company who rebuilt the DIM (the one that came with car) here in this thread or PM it to me? Thank you very much.
