I do believe that is the very classy Barents Blue?

I just located an 08 engine complete and in my area, my question is it identical to the 07 model year. Any experts?

Thanks Jimmy57. 55k, comes complete, including turbo $2300. Deal or no deal? This is from a local wrecking yard, comes with a 30 day warranty. I found one out of state shipped for $3275, it had 66k and didn't include the turbo. Does anyone have a handle on what these things go for or is the $2300 option decent?

Good price for that low miles and local.

Spent some time in the garage last night, I started pulling the engine harnesses and intake andcharged air piping. Pulled the down pipe off the turbo. After draining the coolant and the oil, it dawned on me how easy it would be to pull the pan and check for the noise. Sure enough I found two rods clanking around on the crank. The bearings were worn so thin that they were just slipping around on the rod journal with the rod still installed. Once I removed the end cap off of one of the rods I noticed that the rods have fractured end caps. That's pretty fancy stuff. I've seen this before in MB engines but this is the first Volvo I've ever been inside of. I took some pics, but right now it's waffle time with the kids.
I've been searching for S60 engine replacement guide but I cannot seam to locate one. I checked the repairs section here on the site but I only found info on motor mount replacement. I did see some info for the 850 but they are all earlier cars. Should I drop the front subframe and suspension with the motor and trans still installed or pull motor/trans combo out of the engine bay? I have a lift and a crane so either method is doable. My question is which would be more efficient?

The motor will squeeze past the side passenger subframe once the torque converter has been released and the crank sensor removed.
There are areas of the driveplate that have blanks so rotation of the driveplate always makes things easier as it's pulled up and out. If you look underneath there is a line of sight slot cut away through to the driveplate bolts (T50s) which is at around 7 o clock when looking at driver's side crossmember.
I've done this on a 1999 V70 and there's even more room on a P2 series. Get yourself a fuel line release tool (3/8 inch) so you can separate the fuel line on the passenger side close to the floorwell.

Motor is out. That's a tight squeeze. You really have to be careful not to damage the tone wheel on the back of the flywheel. I'll post some pics tonight.
It sounds decent to me, but that is a swag. Call Erie Vo-Vo and see what they want for one. They are reputable and warranty their stuff. If they say $2500, I'd think you are doing well.
Good luck.
P.S. Please ensure your buddies never use that dealer again. I would encourage them to at least talk to a lawyer before discarding the blown mill. ALL the expense are damages, negligence seems apparent.
